A Wake-Up Call For A Messed-Up World
How Do We Get Out Of This Mess? This new Single from indie folk duo Sue and Dwight raises the alarm that world events are wildly out of control and that we need a big shake-up before it’s too late.
“When I first wrote this song in a pandemic dazed 2020, I thought world conditions couldn’t possibly get any worse,” Sue explains. “Yet they have. I still believe there’s hope though and it starts within all of us confronting the chaos and collectively finding the way forward. We’re not helpless and we need to act now”.
Emboldened authoritarians, environmental devastation, growing inequality, and senseless wars have all converged to take the world to an even more dangerous place in 2025. Self interest and complacency have turned us into bystanders and enablers to impending disaster.
To deal with this, the song channels unrest into rhythm, blending an urgent lyrical call out to act ‘before its too late’ with a pulsating ticking clock guitar rhythm. Imagine Billy Bragg and Pete Seeger meeting the Doors.
As Sue notes, “I wrote this not just as a song but as a wake-up call”.
Sue and Dwight’s uplifting and socially conscious songs reflect the world around us. They have created a music catalogue that tells the stories of the demise of small prairie towns, child soldiers in Uganda, melting snow on the peaks of Kilimanjaro, and the enigma of urban life to name just a few. Sue and Dwight perform at their weekly online shows and selective live events.
