Lyrics
Sue Peters (c) 2021
When I look out at the sea, there’s a memory for me
Of a brave young lad with dreams and his whole life ahead
On a cold day in November, with sorrow we remember
When his ship set sail for Belfast from Montreal
In the convoy they were safe, The SS Bradfyne made it’s way
A Merchant Ship with a cargo hold of grain
Then the Captain said let’s go, we’ll head out on our own
And off the coast of Ireland they went down
So many lives were lost when the ship pitched and tossed
As the water rose, the young lad tapped a final SOS
His parents could not bear that they’d never see him there
At the piano, fingers dancing on the keys
They never gave up hope, that one day he’d come home
And waited patiently for him to walk through the door
When I look out at the sea, there’s a memory for me
Of a brave young lad whose dreams were swept away
